Ron means it when he says, “I love to cut hair.” Ron became a barber in the mid 1960’s after following his older brother Bob’s footsteps and after his six year service with the United States National Guard. It was not until the 1970’s, when men started growing out their hair, Ron turned to hair styling. He enjoyed cutting both men and women’s hair, competing in regional hair competitions, while evolving into an educator for Zotos International where he travel around the country learning new techniques to be used at the salon. For over three decades, Ron has used his creative energy to teach and mentor each employee at Hair Crafters. He has given each employee a strong foundation for becoming a true professional. Behind the chair, Ron’s training shows in each precision haircut he gives; meanwhile, when Ron is not behind the chair, his passions include being a part of Downtown Rotary, the Studebaker National Museum, participating in local government as an elected official, and spending as much time as possible outdoors. Ron and his wife/ business partner, Betty, have three daughters and nine grandchildren.

Cheryl

Cheryl always wanted to be a stylist since the age of six and still enjoys her profession. Her creative talents have excelled in all aspects of dimensional coloring and highlighting; meanwhile, her passion lies in asymmetrical, texturized haircuts that each has a personality of their own. A self-described people person and “hugger,” Cheryl listens to clients’ needs and is straightforward with her professional opinion of what will and will not work for a specific client. Overall, Cheryl feels honored to work with a wide variety of cliental and prides herself on personal service. On a more personal note, Cheryl is a single Mom to her daughter Grace and is still searching for Mr. Right, a.k.a. her “sugar daddy.”

Originally from Poland, Irena became a designer in America yet she still continues to further her education both in the U.S. and in Europe. Irena’s vast knowledge and experience is what has made her a successful stylist. Her experience ranges in all services offered in the salon, such as of precision cutting and color, body waxing, nails, and her favorite service facials. Irena loves to give relaxing Aveda facials for all ages, especially Green Science facials which is a new anti-aging line of products by Aveda. In addition, Irena educates all of her clients about the proper skin care techniques and up-to-date products that will beautify one’s skin even more. Personally, Irena has been married to her husband Lester for over twenty years and has two daughters, Joanna and Agnes.
Paige

Paige loves all aspects of her work, but particularly enjoys both highlighting and lowlighting. She is an expert colorist when it comes to long hair highlights and professional precision cutting techniques for both men and women. In addition, Paige is skilled in all types of perming methods that makes each curl look perfect. With her warm personality, Paige maintains a friendly customer service experience and will work with clients in order to accommodate their needs. Outside of work, Paige keeps busy with her three children, Reid, Sloan, and Logan, along with her husband Rick.

Libby’s passion as a stylist is evident in all aspects of her work. Her talents show through her creative cuts, updos, and bold coloring techniques. Libby does beautiful work on all hair types, from long, coarse hair to short, curly hair. Moreover, if you’re one who wishes you could have longer hair, Libby is well trained in hair extensions. Also, Libby works incredibly well with all types of ethnic and African-American hair. Lastly, Libby’s attention to detail shows in her skill of eyebrow arching. When Libby is not working six days a week, she enjoys spending time with her friends and fiancé Adam.

Ernesa believes that her greatest reward is to see her customer smile. In fact, making her customer’s day is what keeps her passionate about the beauty business. Ernesa gives a memorable shampoo and scalp massage; meanwhile, she enjoys all types of haircuts. As a whole, Ernesa’s talents range from long, layered looks to short bobs while also specializing in all aspects of single and dimensional color for both men and women. Ernesa works with her customers to ensure that she meets all their needs, especially when it comes to ensuring her customers can achieve the same salon look at home. In addition, she specializes in spa manicures and pedicures, body waxing, and Aveda facials. Previously to working for Hair Crafters, Ernesa has lived in Canada for several years, in addition to her native born home of Bosnia.

Megan began her journey at Hair Crafters as a receptionist while still in high school and has transitioned into a talented stylist. Megan’s talents range from precise men’s cuts and color, to a vast knowledge of women’s cuts for all hair types. In addition, she is skilled at natural looking highlights, while also specializing in all aspects of nail care. From acrylics to Gel OPI nail Lacquers, spa manicures and pedicures, Megan will be happy to tend to any nail care needs. Megan loves meeting new people while making them look and feel beautiful through her work. At a personal level, Megan comes from a blended family of 14 children and hopes to someday travel as much as she did as a child.

Since coming on board with Hair Crafters, Laura is excited to offer her talents in all areas of the salon, from short, funky styles to voluminous long layers…and everything in between! She is an excellent colorist and if you’re looking for someone to add some pizzazz to your looks, Laura is the one! And if you seek longer, more fuller hair, Laura also offers hair extension services. Manicures, pedicures, eyebrow shaping and eyelash enhancements round out her service offerings. Laura recently competed in an Avant Garde hair competition in Grand Rapids, Michigan and can’t wait to enter more competitions in the future! She also enjoys learning and enhancing her skills by attending ongoing continuing education courses throughout the region. In her free time, Laura enjoys volunteering with Hello Gorgeous! and St. Vincent de Paul through her parish St. Jude. She also enjoys spending time on her boyfriend’s family’s farm.

In order to enhance his skills, he has studied to become a Certified Personal Trainer under the A.C.E. Program (American Council on Exercise). Whether the customer prefers a seated chair massage or a full-body massage, Chris’ expert hands will relax and rejuvenate the body.

As the co-owner of Hair Crafters, Betty wears many hats in the salon from receptionists to bookkeeper, HR manager to business manager. Betty has been instrumental in keeping the business moving forward by introducing new software upgrades and attending salon business seminars to learn as much as possible about the latest trends in the industry. When it comes to the salon, Betty really enjoys talking with customers and catching up on the latest news in their lives and families. At a more personal level, Betty is a proud mother of three daughters and nine grandchildren, who are God’s precious gifts to her. In her free time Betty enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, reading, traveling, and Yoga.

As Salon Coordinator, Jean manages the professional and retail inventory, oversees the staff of Receptionists and front desk responsibilities as well as manages all of the marketing of the salon through the website, email newsletter, social networking, print and online advertisements. Jean joined her parents and the team at Hair Crafters in 2007 and thoroughly enjoys working in such a creative environment where everyone collaborates and participates in each others’ success. Jean is also involved outside the salon as a board member of the local non-profit organization, Sholo (www.sholo.org), whose goal it is to help promote local businesses. Personally, Jean enjoys spending as much time as possible with her husband, Jitin and their two children, Ofelia and Avi as well as cooking, reading and traveling anywhere and everywhere!

Ann loves her job and thinks it is still as fun today as it was when she first started. In her free time, Ann enjoys spending time with her family, six grandchildren, and traveling across the country with her husband via motorcycle.

Beth began her career at Hair Crafters as a receptionist while studying at IUSB for her degree in finance. After graduation, she became the salon coordinator and was instrumental in streamlining purchasing and payroll. Though Beth has stepped down as salon coordinator in order to utilize her Accounting talents at Quality Dinning, she has stayed on at Hair Crafters as the payroll coordinator and part-time receptionist. When Beth is not working at Hair Crafters, she loves to travel and go shopping.

As Hair Crafter’s afternoon receptionist, Kamella enjoys greeting both new and regular clients to the salon and assisting them as professionally as possible. She prides herself on greeting each client with a smile and acknowledging them as quickly as possible. In addition, Kamella loves the fast pace of the job which has allowed her to multitask efficiently and makes each day seem unique and different. When she is not tending to customers or answering phone calls, Kamella is studying for her Masters in Business and Finance at IUSB. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and reading.

At a more personal level, Imelda is of Mexican decent and speaks fluent Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

As Hair Crafter’s evening and weekend receptionist, Cari’s warm smile and cheerful personality radiates from the second you are greeted. Cari particularly enjoys meeting and greeting both existing and new clients to the salon in addition to seeing the before and after hairstyles once a service has been completed. During the day, Cari is working full-time as a legal assistant for the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office. When not working, Cari enjoys listening to music, reading, and soaking up the sun when the weather is nice.
