Ron and Elizabeth (Betty) DeWinter, opened the salon in 1976 and have continued to operate Hair Crafters as one of the most trusted hair salons in the Michiana area. Hair Crafters not only offers the “Art of the Perfect Cut & Color”, but nail, skin, waxing and massage services as well. Above all, Hair Crafters is an education-driven salon in an ever-changing industry.
Hair Crafters has been voted “Favorite Hair Salon” for five consecutive years, from 2006 – 2010, in the South Bend Tribune Reader’s Choice Awards. This designation has been proof positive that Hair Crafters’ dedication to its customers and their complete satisfaction are the key to longevity in this beautiful business.
As Creative Director, Ron DeWinter drives and inspires the staff to continue their professional education as well as enhance their professional lives through community service. He is not just a boss, but a mentor whose over 40 years experience and expertise in the beauty industry is an invaluable resource to the staff. Ron remains behind the chair because this is truly where his passion lies. Caring for his customers and sharing in their joys and tribulations is truly his first priority.
As Business Manager, Betty DeWinter oversees all daily operations of Hair Crafters. From human resources to accounting to inventory and product control, Betty has been instrumental in all behind the scenes operations. While she does not cut hair herself, her knowledge and insight into the business side of the beauty industry has truly been an asset moving forward on many strategic business decisions for Hair Crafters.
As Salon Coordinator, Jean DeWinter manages the professional and retail inventory, oversees the staff of Receptionists and front desk responsibilities as well as manages all of the marketing of the salon through the website, email newsletter, social networking, print and online advertisements. Jean joined her parents and the team at Hair Crafters in 2007.
